Hello! 🌟 Julie Holiday here! If you're gearing up for back-to-school shopping with the littles, or perhaps you are getting an additional degree (good for you) I strongly suggest adding thrifting to your list of to-dos.
I stopped into yet another Goodwill - the Mansfield Goodwill at 1280 Lexington Ave Ohio 44907 - to take a look at the items that have been donated that would be perfect for completing the classroom must-haves. I decided to compile a list of the things you can expect to find at any one of the Goodwill Akron locations. See the full list here.
Item #1: Backpacks
Regarding purses, bags, and bookbags, Goodwill is a hidden gem where you never quite know what you'll stumble upon. I have found (and used) computer bags, crossbodies, and new-with-tags purses. I purposefully focus on checking out this section of Goodwill Akron locations because often, I stumble upon designer brands at a fraction of their original price.
With back-to-school in mind, I searched for a backpack, and the Lexington location did not disappoint! Below is a picture of a crossbody backpack - similar to the one I wore in college!
Item #2: Notebooks
You really never know what you're going to find at Goodwill and with that, I recommend going shopping always with what you are looking for in mind. Hey, make a shopping list! This really helps when the collection of things start to vy for your attention. Because I was looking specifically for back to school items, I made a list of supplies that included folders and noteooks and was thrilled when my eye honed in onto a few that were brand new!
Item #3: 3-Ring Binders
While I was blown away at the new notebooks I found, I was so tickled to also stumble upon 3-ring binders! Some even had the paper in them, ready for class! 3-ring binders are a great thing to have in storage because you never know when you may need one to help stay organized. I prefer to have a few as backups because I want less clutter around my home and I would like to be able to find things quickly. Would you believe I have a 3-binder for makeup tips, hair how-tos, and party planning?!
Item #4 Calculators
When preparing for back-to-school for yourself or the kiddos, you may come across hard-to-find items. For unique objects, make thrifting your first go-to. Goodwill Akron places their items in categorized departments so it's an easy scan. Sometimes, you can often discover a range of calculators, from basic models for elementary math to more advanced scientific or graphing calculators suitable for high school and college coursework.
Item #5: Storage Bins
Did you know that most storage bins are made to fit hanging files? Talk about endless opportunities to organize! If I could rewind to my time in full-time school, I would have put my files in labeled folders as I went along and completed courses. It's a lot of time and money to attend class and so much information is given; learn from me, friend!
Of course, the possibilities for storage bins are endless. Other ideas to implement include storing: shoes, books, seasonal clothing, office essentials, and art supplies.
So, next time you’re gearing up for back-to-school shopping or just looking to add some fresh finds to your collection, don’t overlook your local Goodwill. My latest visit was at - the Mansfield Goodwill at 1280 Lexington Ave Ohio 44907. From backpacks to storage solutions, you never know what treasures you might uncover. Thrift shopping not only saves you money but also offers unique options.
Happy thrifting, friend!
