Successful free shopping event in Akron this past weekend

Awesome event at Gerri's Closet in Green this past weekend. Dozens gathered for a 'Clothing Swap' event where everyone shopped for free fashion.

The week before, attendees dropped off gently used #clothes, #shoes, accessories to Gerri's Closet then at the event #swapped them for new-to-them items.

Free Fashion Event Clothing Swap at Gerri's Closet. Following Saturday's clothing swap, attendees enjoyed 20% off of any optional purchase within the store.

I was asked to host this #fashion event along with Taylor Jones aka blogger, Modest Blondie.

Complete with refreshments, attendees enjoyed clearing their own #clutter, #shopping for free clothes and updating their wardrobes without spending a dime.

Heard from several ladies at the #swap Saturday, "Thank you for putting on such a fun event! #Free clothes in exchange for stuff I no longer want? Yes!"

Despite attendees walking away with the same amount of items they brought in (5-20 pieces), there were still 6+ large bags of clothes leftover from the event. According to Gerri Talevich, owner of Gerri's Closet, the extra items were to be #donated to the charity Dress for Success.

Popular on the West Coast, Clothing Swaps are growing popularity in the area as other swaps are happening in Northeast #Ohio.
